A few months back Caroline Marray got in contact with me for some extremely large painting that she could put in her newly converted barn (Big Barn) that she is now using as a holiday home, it really is an amazing place and makes my 5ft wide canvases look small !! Anyway for more information on the Big Barn visit this link - Big Barn Slapton - And here are a few picture on my paintings hanging, this is 3 of i think 6 paintings: As always click on image to enlarge.

Here are a few examples of what the prints look like, they will come in a poly bag, card backed, im not sure of the exact weight of the paper but its about the same as normal photo paper (ill ring the printers and find out the exact weight!............ but last time i tried that i was on hold for so long i gave up and curled up in a corner !) anyway have a look at them im really happy with how they have come out. UPCOMING EXHIBITIONS- 27th Feb 2008

I have not been very good at keeping this blog up to date, with the re-design on the web site i don't seem to have much time to get round to filling you in on what's happening in the wonderful world of artness with me, so here goes a decent update. Some up coming shows that are confirmed are on the 7th/8th March at the Mackarness Hall in Hontion me and a fellow artist are putting on a show called Juxtaposition, its a short running show but should be really good, if you in the area the preview night is the 7th between 19:00 - 21:00 (Free wine and anecdotes), ill have about 25 pieces in this show so should be good to see if i finish them all in time. Second show is another one with a fellow artist (who's name escapes me at the mo) which will run for a month at the Flavel in Dartmouth the date for this show is 28th July - 27th Aug so quite a way off yet but confirmed about 8 - 10 pieces of mine in that one. And the last show that is going ahead in Launceston, in not to sure on the details for this one yet but i will have around 3 painting in it, this starts at the 16th April for about 3 months !!!

Of course there will be other shows on in the near future but for the minute they are the ones confined, im especially excited about the Juxtaposition show as this is one that me and the other artist have fully arranged ourselves (no agents were involved) so we will see how it goes but there should be a great atmosphere, ill get photos and posters up on the site soon.

Ive had a few questions about the "carry on painting films" and if i have stopped doing them, no i haven't i have about 5 or 6 that have been filmed i just need to get around to editing them once they are i will get them up asap, im also thinking of doing a Q&A video to answer the most common questions i get, as its quicker to spill it out of my mouth than write to each person individually. Anyway that's it for the bit, hope you like how the new design is coming on it will take awhile to get the whole site done but im doing my best.................. off to paint !!

JUXTAPOSITION (POP WORLD MEETS THIRD WORLD) 7th/8th March 2008- 10th Feb 2007
Along with fellow artist Pate Stacey i will be putting on an exhibition at the Mackarness Hall in Honiton, the exhibition is exploring the differences in contemporary cultures of the east and the west (pop world meets third world) the opening is the 7th March 2008 at 17:00 where will be having some wine and a good chit chat so if you are in the area please pop in and see the show, me and Pete will be there throughout the exhibition to discuss our work, hope to see you there. Opening times are: 7th March 19:00 - 21:00, 8th March 9:00 - 17:00
HOO HOO HOO CHISTMAS- 23rd Oct 2007
Its nearly already here, so just a quick note to all that im now taking Christmas orders, to avoid having to be painting of Christmas eve, mind you i did this last year and spent Christmas eve praying for paint to dry faster. So if there are any paintings you are interested in on a commissions basis please get your orders in now.
SPLINTERED STUDIOS GOING THROUGH CHANGES- 18th Sep 2007
You may have already noticed that certain parts of the web site are changing, like the new fancy splash page. Over the next few months ill be changing parts of the web site to make it more user friendly and easier for me to keep updated, with around 350 pages it can become abit of a nightmare to keeps things up to date. The main changes that will be happening are, first im splitting the paintings into Fine Art (Banana manifesto etc) and Commercial Art (Film / Music) this should make it easier for people to look through the site and have more paintings on a single page instead of having to click through eight or so galleries to look at the paintings, so hopefully this should make it simpler to see stuff and also people come to me for mainly, fine art or commercial paintings so each collector will have there special pages for what they like. Off the top of my head the other things that will change are you will be able to see the price and other info on a painting on the thumbs page instead of going into the main page of the painting, also other small thing like the interview page will be going and all press will be added to the about me page, so i need to think of a idea to replace the interview page. Anyway hopefully the changes will not disrupt you viewing .................Thanx

MAKING OF VIDEOS- 5th July 2007
I've just started making "making of" videos for some of my painting, these videos are time lapse videos, so you can see a painting that took 5 hours painted in 1 min. These videos can be viewed at my youtube page, or with the specific painting on my site, i will add a section to the film page with all of them on at some point but at the moment ive only done one and am editing one at the moment, but this is going to be a on going thing as i think buyers and collectors would like to see their painting being painted. The first video which is very much a tester can be viewer here. (Please leave nice comments on youtube, would be most appreciated)

IN THE KEY OF WATER - 23rd Feb 2007
A new film has just been finished, "In The Key Of Water" is a film for, to quote "The National Association of Landscape Architects in Norway is having a meeting in Bergen for theme day about water. The program will include talks, Water Art, Bathing in Iceland, Weather Warning- Water for the next 100 years." The films are intended to break up the conference. This is something that's been arranged by the stupid talented Emilie Rowell. The film is a musical, the idea was to create a sound track out of water sounds, i think its worked pretty well, i did have to bring in Stumpie (Alex Sadler) to assist with the editing, which took a amazing two days to edit a 60 second film. Well see what you think, click here to view.

MY, MYSPACE - 4th Jan 2007

I hate it!! what is the point of it? but after seeing Lucy Birch dedicate her life to telling people how 'lush' they look in their pictures i finally succumbed and decided to check it out, and i have to say its pretty fun, saying that i have found making the myspace page way more confusing than making this whole web site and at the moment i have a lack of friends, so if you wanna, how do they say it 'add me' well something like that, please do so i can have more than 3 friends. My myspace url is: http://www.myspace.com/stephensplinteredquick

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007 !!! - 4th Jan 2007

Happy new to all, hope your xmas was good and you are now, like me doing vigorous exercise to get rid of the 'Holiday Weight', and Sandy Claus brought you everything you wanted, my personal fav is the Angel box set which now has put a stop to any social life i had until i've got through all 5 seasons, and that now completes my Joss Whedon collection, Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Serenity, so im a very happy boy.
