THE ART OF STEPHEN QUICK
SHOELACES (2004)
Shoelaces portrays a life in a schizophrenic dream. Following a single character's day, he arrives home and starts to realise that it is not the bad things in life that sends a sane man mad; death he is ready for, or robbery, fire, flood. It's the little things that tip a man over the edge, things like a shoelace that snaps with no time left. After a small period of dealing with these trivialities, his schizophrenic episode is triggered, during this part the character is haunted by a voice in his head, represented by a king from a chess board, who screams and yells at him and who will never leave.
